Get started
Get started
Pick the first step that matches what you are building.
Most projects start with Little Harness. Little Workflow is optional. LittleDB (the product the SDK feeds) and the workspace engines cannot be installed yet.
| You want to | Start with |
|---|---|
| Create a Node or Next.js project with an agent, or add one to an existing Next.js app | Setup (little setup) |
| Try an agent in its own workspace and chat with it from the terminal | Harness Getting Started (little-harness init) |
| Call an agent from your own route, job or worker | Harness: Embedding in Your App |
| Run a bounded, durable workflow directly from code | Workflow Quickstart |
| Give an agent a workflow as a tool | Compose With Little Harness |
All published paths need Node.js 22 or newer and AI SDK 7, which is a peer dependency of both packages.
Not installable yet
- LittleDB is private source. Harness and Workflow work without it.
- Workspaces beyond your own machine: managed workspaces come with LittleDB's hosted service (private for now), and the self-hosted engine (Little Compute) is documented from an unpublished source checkout. Neither has an npm package.
See How they fit for what each piece owns, and Releases for exact versions.
Little Stack documentation
LittleDB is the product, Little Harness and Little Workflow are the SDK, and workspaces are where an agent's work lives. Choose a piece, set up a project, and see how they fit.
Setup
Create a Node or Next.js project with a Little Harness agent, or add one to an existing Next.js app, with little setup.
